About
Marvin Marsh, often just known as "Grampa", is one of South Park's oldest citizens, the grandson of the the town's original founder, a leader of the senior community, an elite member of the Hare Club for Men, and the proud grandfather of Stan Marsh and Shelly Marsh. At the age of eight, he helped his grandfather commit suicide. Marvin worked for fifty-five years in a steel mill, and flew in the United States Army Air Force in a Supermarine Spitfire over Nazi Germany during World War II, before retiring at some point to the town of South Park, where he had at least two children - sons Jimbo Kern and Randy Marsh.
He lived in the Marsh Residence for a number of years with a Border Collie named Patches, now deceased, but his mobility was soon limited without a cane or a motorized wheelchair, and he became afflicted with Alzheimer's disease, constantly referring to his grandson as 'Billy' and confusing his granddaughter's age. He became extremely suicidal and tried whatever he could do to kill himself, often trying to get his grandson's help, such as by holding on to a rope while he tries to hang himself. He has since been moved to Looming Sunset Assisted Living, where he buys useless over-priced jewelry for his unsuspecting grandchildren.
As hobbies, he enjoys hunting, fishing, drinking heavily, defending his license and ability to drive dangerously, presiding over Civil War re-enactments, and sex with contortionists. He also appeared on America's Stupidest Home Videos with Bob Saget when his video of Kenny McCormick being run over by a train won a cash prize.

Fun Facts
- Stan's Uncle Jimbo Kern has mentioned fishing and hunting with his father in "Cartman's Mom is a Dirty Slut"; it was confirmed at South Park Studios in an FAQ that Jimbo's father is Marvin, though with a different woman than Randy's mother.
- Jimbo mentions his 'great-grandfather' founding the town of South Park in "Chef Goes Nanners", which would make Marvin the grandson of the town's founder.
- He was last seen with his family in "Over Logging" and is mentioned living with them in "Pandemic" but is not seen eating with them as of "Margaritaville" and "Eat, Pray, Queef", meaning he likely moved out between Season Twelve and Season Thirteen.
