Story
Description
Stan comes to the boys in a panic -- Trent Boyett, a mean old classmate, has just been released from juvenile hall. This piece of news sends the rest of them (including Butters) into a state of pure shock because they're the ones who put Trent in there.
During a flashback to preschool, we learn that the boys got Trent to set a fire in their classroom so they could play "Fireman" and put it out by peeing on it. Unfortunately they failed to extinguish it. Their teacher, Ms. Claridge, tried to put out the growing fire and was promptly turned into a human torch. Hideously disfigured, she's now confined to a motorized wheelchair and can only communicate through electronic beeps -- one for "yes," two for "no."
But that wasn't the worst of it. Rather than tell the truth and get in trouble, they blamed everything on Trent. Even Butters, the only other witness, refused to defend him. Trent got five long years in juvie hall and the boys promptly forgot about the whole thing . . . until now.
Butters is the first to feel Trent's vengeance. He gets a beating so severe (including two Indian sunburns and a second-degree titty twister) that he has to be hospitalized. Cartman says they should tell the authorities that Trent did it, but Kyle (who's more afraid of his mother finding out he's lied) won't let them tell.
Instead they hire the sixth graders as bodyguards -- in exchange for their protection, they demand a picture of Stan's mom's breasts. The boys manage to fake this by drawing nipples on Cartman's butt and taking a photo. However the sixth graders prove no match for Trent, and all wind up seriously injured in the hospital. Stan is forced to turn to the one last person he can trust his sister Shelly. She agrees to protect them, but only if they tell Ms. Claridge the truth about the fire.
The boys locate their old teacher, whose wheelchair has run out of juice in the middle of the street, and try to reconcile. But suddenly Trent appears, bent on revenge. Cartman (who has been carrying around his mom's taser) fires it at Trent Boyett, misses, and hits Ms. Claridge's wheelchair instead. The charge from the stun gun launches the wheelchair into a propane shop, setting Ms. Claridge on fire . . . again.
The police arrive and ask the now-even-more-unsightly Ms. Claridge if Trent tried to kill her. She beeps twice for "no," which the police interpret at "yes, yes." He's carted back to juvenile hall for another five years. Cartman, ecstatic, moons Trent with his nipple-bedecked butt as he's taken away. The boob-obsessed sixth graders happen to see this and kidnap Cartman for use as a masturbatory aid.

Characters
Character Debuts
Trent Boyett, the "meanest, dirtiest, toughest kid in the world," according to Cartman. Also poor Ms. Claridge and her motorized wheelchair.
We're introduced to the pre-school versions of a lot of the kids here. In addition to the boys and Trent, we meet pre-school Butters, and in the background, pre-school Wendy.
Character Returns
Mr. Hat, AWOL since the sixth season's "The Death Camp of Tolerance", is briefly glimpsed on Mr. Garrison's hand during the preschool flashback.
Locations
Behind The Scenes
Actual kids were used to voice the toddlers. Though their dialogue is strewn with bleeps, they didn't actually use curse words. Instead the bleeps were dropped into their G-rated dialogue, allowing viewers' R-rated minds to fill in the blanks.
Where Did The Idea Come From
For a while the idea of doing a South Park Kids series, with the boys as toddlers, was tossed around. Instead Matt and Trey decided to use the concept in a flashback show.
Pop Culture References
Shout Outs
While making Cartman's ass into a pair of fake boobs, Kyle uses Madonna's 1992 photo book Sex as a reference. Also, the store called "Propane and Propane Accessories" is a reference to the cartoon series King of the Hill, created by Matt and Trey's friend Mike Judge. Furthermore, the episode's entire scenario is a play on the 1991 film Cape Fear.
For protection, the boys offer the sixth graders: a 12 pack of Dr. Pepper, a Chutes and Ladders board game, a DVD of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and a coupon for the restaurant chain Red Robin. The sixth graders opt to see some killer boobage instead.
Ms. Claridge's wheelchair, along with her "one beep, two beep" communications mode is taken from the Star Trek two-parter "The Menagerie," in which former Enterprise captain Christopher Pike is confined to an almost identical rig. Even his facial injuries are pretty much the same as Ms. Claridge's.
Bonus Factoids
Pointless Observations
This is the second episode in which the pre-school boys are seen. The first time was during a flashback in Season Two's "Summer Sucks." That time, Kenny got blown up by a firecracker.
Trent Boyett has two tattoos: on his right arm, "Vengeance Is Mine Sayeth The Lord" (a quote from The Bible); on his left, "Never Forget" with the skull emblem for The Punisher (a Marvel comic antihero). We learn that Stan's mom apparently has the "sweetest boobs ever." Also, if you put a necklace on it, Cartman's ass can pass for a pretty nice rack.
Trent Boyett's arsenal of weapons include: wet willies, snugees, Indian Sunburns, titty twisters, swirliees, Charlie Horses, and most horrifically, a Texas Chili bowl.
