The legendary Robert Smith, also known as Smithra, is an English singer from the band The Cure. He has long been a member of a small, elite circle of guardians of the universe, along with Sidney Poitier and Leonard Maltin, who turn into giant monsters to protect it from harm. He is summoned by Maltin and Jerome "Chef" McElroy to defeat the enormous Mecha-Streisand when she appears in South Park, a feat admired even by the Super Best Friends two years later. His biggest fan may be Kyle Broflovski, who thinks Disintegration is the best album ever.

Behind the Scenes[edit]
Robert Smith, who was specifically vetted for a guest appearance by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, was given an incomplete script to preserve the surprise. He had "no idea what it was all about" and he "was completely thrown by what they had done with it" and considers it one of the greatest moments in his life, according to a discussion with Peter Wentz. He also noted the appearance immortalized him to his nieces and nephews.
