How South Park Filled the Stands with Character Cutouts at Mile High Stadium
Ahead of its first-ever supersized episode, “The Pandemic Special,” South Park and Comedy Central partnered with the Denver Broncos to mark the momentous occasion with a massive town-sized celebration.
The citizens of South Park attended the Denver vs Tampa Bay football game at Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colorado, on September 27, 2020. Beloved characters donning face masks cheered on the Broncos from the south stands spreading out across five sections on Sunday afternoon.
11 artists rendered and added face masks to the 1,800 characters for this event. It took the team over 200 hours to prep cutouts, which consisted of characters who have appeared in the series over the past 23 seasons. Not all characters were in attendance at this game.

Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny all sat in the front row with their families. Fan favorites, such as Butters, Chef, Towelie, ManBearPig, and Satan were also in attendance. Eagle-eyed fans may even have spotted some Visitors hidden throughout the stands. Even the non-conformist Goth Kids were on site, though they didn’t sit with the rest of the town.
