Broken Images
Hey there. I'm really sorry; I was expanding Randy's friends list, but there seems to be a problem with some of the images. I believe I wrote everything correctly, so I'm not quite sure how to fix it. I'd appreciate it so much if you could help me fix it, and tell me what I did wrong to help me improve & avoid this from happening again. Thank you, and again, so sorry.
Hi anon. Don't forget to sign your posts! I'm not sure exactly what's wrong as the Randy page and friends list looks fine to me right now. Maybe you already fixed it. I have noticed recently in my own editing that copying and pasting the image links in a browser can result in an "https" file that should be converted to an "http". I've made that error a few times! There is a mistake in the Randy-as-Leia image but I think that has to do with the studio, not the editing. - Jvm (talk) 00:30, 18 October 2019 (EDT)
Hey, Jvm. Thankfully South Park Studios already fixed it. But I'm still really thankful for you telling me about the links; I'll make sure they're the right ones next time. I'm so sorry for forgetting to sign my original post btw, I'll try to remember to in the future. Thanks again, Jvm. -Jackstanbrah7 - 18th October 2019.
Hey about your edits
First off, I'm glad to see you back and thanks for contributing so much to the wiki. I myself have been apart of this community for over 10 years and it's great to see it grow. I do have a small issue with the changes you made to the character articles 'Scott and Lisa'. I believe these were changed by you and I would like for you to here what I have to say about it.
I planned to have the most essential description of the person in the first few sentences and proceed with sub-sections of their character that has been explored in the series, (rather than clumping everything into one long piece that grabs whatever new fact that pops up regarding them. Take Cartmans page, you get the most basic understanding of who he is in the first few sentences and then there are many sub sections expanding on his character. I would like to keep things like that, Scott is a character big enough to warrant a sub section regarding his insecurity.
Let me know your thoughts as I want to avoid misunderstandings and hope we can create a mutually beneficial wiki for everyone.
That's totally fine. I appreciate you asking! There's a bit of learning curve here for all of us. I've been going off the template/structure SPS first put in place on the first few character bios, which had just a short 'About' and a list of appearances. When I decided to beef up Cartman and the boys, which I got lazy with during college, I tried to break up some sections while keeping a lengthy 'About' and someone else saw through my structure and split it. I considered reverting it, but decided it sort of works. I actually totally share your concern about doing a grab bag of facts in the main section - you're right that Scott's insecurity is significant. I think there's room for a larger discussion about structure. I wish there was an easier place to discuss this! Here's what I'm thinking:
- About (a general in-universe description that includes mentions of everything, including that covered below in more detail.)
- Physical Appearance (again, might need a silly name, but probably might as well add.)
- Personality and Traits (place to hold personality-based factors, might need a more unique name)
- Insecurity, for example (each section covers the feature in more detail and includes direct references to episodes)
- Greed, for a Cartman example
- (Special separate sections can remain for thngs like Cartman's Criminal Record or Kenny's Death, which are more observation-based, rather than traits.)
How does this sound, as a way of keeping things uniform? :) Also, welcome to the wiki properly. I get a little nervous because some people seem like they only last a few days but if you've been around that long I'm sure you'll be here for the long haul! -JVM
Thanks for the welcome, I try to contribute whenever on my downtime, I was actually a large contributor on the South Park Archives before it wen't full fan fiction :P I like a lot about your structure, I do think a few thinks can be tweaked on a case by case basis like you said. One thing about a dedicated section for *Personality and Traits, it should only apply to established characters. It sounds redundant but a lot of times the South Park team will create a character for use in a plot more so than fleshing them out. So expecting every character to have a section when there isn't enough to say could lead to contributors making personalities for them or reading more into a scene then beneficiary. A lot more can be discussed in the future but for now we should just document and help each other out when we feel the need to. ~Sgt. Sarge
Oh, of course. It'd just be a subsection for necessary characters. Simpler characters can just stick to the 'About' section structure, like the existing pages do. The current staff at SPA seem to be trying to fix some of the problems of the more recent administration, but I'm satisfied working here as well. Keep up the good work! -JVM
Yo Brah
So hey I noticed that info box how the fuck did you do that I don't know how to get my avatars picture on the screen thanks brah and live long and prosper.
Hey dude! You can't link to off-site images, like on Google, but any images on the SouthPark.CC.com server work, like the avatars - go to the top right of your screen where your avatar is (next to your name) right-click the image, and 'Copy Image Location' should give it to ya! Good luck and live long and prosper as well! :D ~JVM
South Park Unleashed
is that ever coming back and did you really predict Karen McCormicks name?
Hopefully sometime, but I've been too busy to write lately. As for Karen, I was a regular wikipedia editor for the South Park article at the time, and the name Karen showed up one day, as did one statement claiming the name came from an interview with Matt, and another claiming Matt didn't know she existed. Me and 2-3 other editors decided to keep the former statement and the name 'Karen' slowly crept through the fandom and eventually, somehow, made it to the show :) -- btw, don't forget to mark your posts with your username or 4 tildes (~) so we know it's you Jvm (talk) 07:33, 27 October 2015 (EDT)
FOLLOW UP: Okay if you are starting SP Unleashed back up anytime soon, I could help, I know you used to work with other people and I've been known to write well. If not I understand. -Ken
Heiman
You seem to forgot what I said about not altering Cartman and Heidi's relationship status until after the next new episode airs. Judging by what Trey Parker said, their recent "breakup" might not last long.-Southal93
