Worst songs from the 1970's?

Postby forbidden_moose » Sat Mar 10, 2012 2:12 am

Hello, I really love bad 70's music, and was wondering what some of your favourite so bad it's good (or just so bad) songs from the decade are. Particular favourites of mine are "The Night Chicago Died." "The Morning After." and "Cat's in the Cradle"

Not one of my favorites. It's bad because it's bad.

Okay, thread over. Niels has posted the worst song of the '70s according to Rolling Stone readers. :cartmanevillaugh:

Kyle: Why? How could you do this? There are people starving in Alabama and you give Cartman a million dollars?

Cartman: Line? Lines! I HATE LINES!!!

The sad thing is, even the worst songs from the 70's are better than most of the songs now..

'Night Chicago Died is awesomeness. The one song that makes me want to strangle my radio (other than disco duck) is The Telephone Man. I can't look for it right now, but I'll try to post it tonight.

You beat me to it.

Here's my entry. I almost like it, I appreciate the arrangement and stuff, but it's just too horrendously cheesy, and I can tolerate some shmaltzy stuff.

Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft. Brace yourselves. This is terribleness of cosmic proportions.

I was going to vote for MacArthur Park, but that was done in the '60s.

Some would say "Suspension" by Kip Lennon (the theatrical theme to the "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" movie that spawned the tv series), but I actually like it.

Give it a listen and tell me what you think.

I like it. I'll admit it's a bit treacly but ignoring the lyrics, it's actually pretty good.

For the TV series version of the theme, well, you can watch the "Go God Go" episodes. (Yep. They parodied the Buck Rogers in the 25th Century series, to some degree.)

Anyway, there's a song I've always hated called "Babe, What Would You Say" by some dude named Hurricane Smith. I'd post it, but I'm not sure if it's really from the '70s. It's a cheesy, sappy love song with a lot of strings. And for those who know me, I don't usually do cheesy, sappy love songs.

-I don't mind 'Georgia.

Here's Telephone Man.

Oh, and I don't know about worst, but here's another one I can't stand. (sorry to those who do like it.

Also, this and this aren't 'worst', but they are guilty pleasures.

This is a playlist that I made, on my friend Eric's account. There's about 55 songs on here, ranging from mildly annoying, to downright pant's fillingly terrible.

I wouldn't agree.

I know you're going to hate me for this, but this disco-metal song makes me wanna puke my guts out.

I saw Rose Garden was on there. I'm not a big fan of Country, but I do like that song. There's even a Quad-mix of it on the y'tubes that's just a little better than the original (i think). http://youtu.be/RKwgY7BUUPo
