Celebrity Death Thread 2009
Well, a new year means a new thread.
I guess I will start. She's not really a celeb but has done more good than a lot of celebs ever will.
JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) – Helen Suzman, one of South Africa's foremost anti-apartheid campaigners, died on Thursday at the age of 91.
Suzman was for 36 years South Africa's most famous white crusader against apartheid, waging an often lonely and fierce parliamentary battle to enfranchise the black majority.
Suzman became one of the few whites to earn respect from black South Africans when she started making regular visits to see jailed black nationalist leader Nelson Mandela, sentenced to life imprisonment in 1964.

Um, he died on December 31, 2008, so that doesn't count.

Still the same as it ever was.

How about Jett Travolta? Now there's an unusual and untimely death.

I agree about Jett Travolta. I mean it's sad when anyone dies. Even if it's someone you don't personally like, someone out there loves them. But when it's someone who is so young and had their whole lives ahead of them, it's even worse.

I know it's a little too late for this, but Maddie Blaustein, transgendered voice actress of 4Kids Entertainment, passed away nearly a month ago, Dec. 11, 2008.

Founding member of "The Stooges" was found dead today, and apparently had been that way for several days.
