Re: Why don't apes have the ability to learn visually?

There was selective pressure for teaching and learning the way humans do and that's really all you need to make us so different from the apes. The apes' ability to imitate as a form of learning has been sufficient for their survival (at least until humans really started messing with their sh it.) S...

What's with your avatar choice, then?

This layout is annoying as f*ck. There's a big banner ad on the right. I can see that they need money to keep this sh*t going, but come on...obnoxious banner ads are annoying!

Re: Why don't apes have the ability to learn visually?

Fapping is fairly instinctive. Pretty much any animal that can push it's pleasure button will do so, I hear even fetuses of some species do it. No need to learn that behavior. That's interesting, because I learned that behaviour. I didn't know how to finish at first because I never looked at porn. ...

Re: Why don't apes have the ability to learn visually?

Four words: Planet of the Apes We do know that apes and other monkeys can pass their knowledge on to their young, and they can make simple tools, but we don't know if we want them, who are already stronger than us, to be as smart. Interesting. I will have to watch that. Surely there's a group of ap...

Re: Is South Park just not as funny as earlier episodes?

I like older episodes, and I like the new ones too (especially seasons 14 and 15). It's not that it's getting better or worse, it's just different. You can't expect a show that been around for 16 years to remain the same. The "good old days" are never getting back. Get over it! How has it...

Re: Is South Park just not as funny as earlier episodes?

Can I just stress that "looks like SP is going the way of The Simpsons" or "SP is starting to decline" is an observation made about the show every year? And it's always made by young people. Young people who either don't get the show's depth now, or they're just not watching the ...

Re: Is South Park just not as funny as earlier episodes?

With the way Season 16 resulted, it's became clear to me that there is no longer an interest in South Park and they are simply using her as an ATM. That's not a bad thing, Matt Stone and Trey Parker are human after all and have human needs. They need money for food, water, clothing, and shelter. Wh...

Re: A Generation Lost. The 90's.

Who can forget the brilliance of early Rugrats? Yes! This! I've never been the most "cultured" person in the world but being born into '92 was the greatest thing that could've happened for me (with the exception of if I was born before then and could've had a better memory of the 90s as a...

Re: South Park wins it's 5th Emmy!

Back on topic: Raising the Bar was a great episode, if I remember correctly. The James Cameron cut-aways were not irrelevant as most people seem to think. It was a comment that shows like Honey Boo Boo are lowering the bar, or lowering the standards, of entertainment in America. It was also a gag on...

Then why don't we breed these apes to make them smarter in each successive generation? Just to see what happens.

Re: Why don't apes have the ability to learn visually?

Or maybe that "extraordinary revelation" wasn't extraordinary at all. Maybe it was just as ordinary as a predator learning a new way to catch its prey. I'm just placing an unnecessary importance on intelligence (which is what the human excels at)...but of course, in certain environments in...
