The 70s and 80swere a good time foryoung Terrance and Phillip.
Their act on The Donny and Marie Show
won thema Nobel Peace Prize.
They were on the coverof every magazine.
And then in 1998,
even a Saturday morningcartoon was made
based on Terrance and Phillip.
Terrance and Phillip themselvessupplied the voices.
Say, Terrance,what should we do
aboot this strange planetwe've crashed on ?
I don't know, Phillip.
It seems likethe alien species herebreathe an inert gas.
Uh-oh, did you saywhat I thought you said ?

As leader ofthe Goat People,
I have seen my speciesnearly wiped out byyour dangerous gas.
Wow, that sucks.

( narrator )The cartoon wassuch a huge success
that it started to breedconfusion
over whetherTerrance and Phillip
were animated charactersor real people.
And so in 1998,the comedy team started work
on what they thought would betheir greatest achievement,
a made-for-tv movie
written by and startingTerrance and Phillip
called Not Without My Anus.
It was their biggest projectto date,
but it had the misfortuneof being scheduled on a night
when a different and morepopular television show,
The John Schneider Variety Hourwas supposed to air.
When fans tuned into see John Schneider
and instead were treated tothe Canadian made-for-tv movie,
they were enraged, bewilderedand scared.
The fans revoltedand burned down the network,
killing six television producersand wounding 12 others.
The hatred ofTerrance and Phillip had begun.
Terrance fell intoa deep depression
and started abusingwood polish.
Phillip beat upan angry six-year-old fan
and was sued for$6 million.
It was the first timethe duo tasted failure
and it nearlykilled them both.
